March 29, 2008 Nicole writes: ~ Hey friends :) Thanks for all your wonderful emails and passion to make a difference in your own life and in the lives of others who are silently hurting. This has been a really busy and very fun spring semester. I just returned home from a week on the road in Indiana. I shared my story at Indiana Wesleyan University, which may have the nicest facilities that I have seen on a Midwest college campus thus far. Gorgeous school. Then I shared a new message entitled "Hungry" at Bethel College; it was on the topic of eating disorders and body image. A big snow storm rolled into Indiana this week, so I am really looking forward to next week and being in sunny California! I will spend a day at Bethany University in Scotts Valley and then head to the coastline for an inspiring weekend conference for young women, entitled Worthy: A Night to Encounter the One Who Calls You Beautiful (see poster image), which is hosted by the amazing girls of Wonderfully Made and is being held at Santa Clara University. I will be the keynote speaker for this event and will be joined by recording artist, Jessica McLean. Exciting days ahead!
March 20, 2008 Nicole writes: ~ I recently spoke to about 2500 college students in the beautiful chapel at Cedarville University. It was a lovely visit. And I just got off the plane coming from Philadelphia where I shared my story at Philadelphia Biblical University and also at a mega-church there called Calvary Church of Souderton. It has been a busy spring, but all very good stuff! And I am very much looking forward to this Easter weekend :) ~ Here is a recent blogger review for Hush: "Sometimes, when a person writes, it takes great talent. Sometimes, it takes great faith. And sometimes, it takes great courage. For Nicole Braddock Bromley, her book demonstrates all three, and I am SO grateful for the privilege of reading her book! ... " Click here to continue reading... March 3, 2008 Nicole writes: ~ Wow -- what a sweet start to this year's spring college tour! Covenant College (GA), 2 days at Charleston Southern University (SC), my 3-day Relationship Series at Olivet Nazarene University (IL) and a full day at Geneva College (PA), plus some great media opportunities and a workshop at Vineyard Church of Columbus' Women's Conference. I admit I am tired...but amazed...humbled...grateful...hopeful...and very much looking forward to all that the rest of Spring '08 has in store! February 15, 2008 Nicole writes: ~ Just returned home from what turned out to be one of my favorite visits to a campus so far. I love the students, staff, athletes and coaches at Charleston Southern University in South Carolina! Keep breaking the silence and making a difference on your campus! I hope to return again soon :)

January 10, 2008 Nicole writes: ~ Take a gander at the winter edition of WHOLE Magazine and my article on pages 36 - 39. Then flip a couple pages back to page 30 and see RAINN's ad for the Sexual Assault Hotline. ~ A Chicago-based television station posted six 10-minute clips from my interview with them this past fall. Go to this YouTube link or to this GodTube link to view all six parts of the show. Make sure you watch them in order -- could get confusing!! :) January 1, 2008 Nicole writes: ~ Happy New Year! I pray that 2008 is a fresh new start, a time of silence to be broken, great healing to occur, healthy relationships formed & freedom found -- a year marked in history for you! ~ My friends at RAINN (the Rape Abuse & Incest National Network) say, "Rapists don't take off nights and weekends. Neither can we." I agree and I am strongly in support of the new campaign to get the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline running 24/7. RAINN's phone hotline (800.656.HOPE) has been able to help more than 1 million people to date, but the new National Sexual Assault Online Hotline is essential to helping more. The Online Hotline provides live, secure, free, anonymous crisis support for victims of sexual assault, their friends and families over RAINN's website. Currently the Online Hotline is operating in a pilot phase, running limited hours. In order to have the Online Hotline running 24/7, we need the help of people like you -- committed to fighting sexual assault. You can help RAINN provide online support whenever its needed - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! Join the campaign! Become an online hotline volunteer, help fund it, or just spread the word. Visit http://www.rainn.org/ohlvolunteer/process for more details. December 30, 2007 Nicole writes: ~ This is a difficult time of year for so many abuse survivors. I have been receiving tons of emails from those who have struggled through this year's holiday season -- dealing with painful memories, dysfunctional families, loneliness and overall anxiety and stress is hard. And it breaks my heart. I pray all of you have been able to survive once again, taking time for yourselves when needed, creating exciting new traditions, reaching out to others in need, and simply that you were able to find peace and joy within. You are worth it -- and I wish you a fresh new year in 2008! ~ I did a great deal of book reading over the Christmas season, one of which was a novel, Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. I very rarely read fiction books, but this one has been recommended to me by many abuse survivors over the past few years, so I thought I would finally pick it up and give it a try. Yup, I LOVED IT! I highly recommend this book, especially to those of you who have ever felt dirty, damaged, used, abused, and worthless. This is a beautiful story of love and redemption that deeply moved me -- I couldn't put it down! ~ Are you preparing your New Year's resolutions yet?? :) November 22, 2007 A.K.A. Thanksgiving Day in America! Nicole writes: ~ Happy Thanksgiving, my friends! I am so thankful for all of you fabulous and courageous difference-makers out there! To all of you who I have met in my travels across North America these past 6 years, or to those who I have not met personally, but have read my book (therefore, I feel we have become good friends!) I want to say that I am so proud of the huge strides you are making on your healing journeys and the differences you are making in your own life and in your community. You all are so amazing!! I love you!! And may God bless you! ~ Well, I am loving having a week at home to chill and be with my wonderful husband :) Next week I will be on the radio in Detroit (Monday at 2:30pm on WMUZ); Tuesday through Friday I will be in Chicago to speak in 2 womens chapels at Moody Bible Institute and do some tv and radio interviews around the city. Can't wait to see all my Moody peeps! Love 'em! ~ Have a great Thanksgiving weekend...know that you are beautiful and I am thankful for you. oxox November 10, 2007 Nicole writes: ~ It has been a FANTASTIC fall semester so far, but a very busy one too. Last week I spent 4 full days at 3 universities and put 1600 miles on my car. This week I spent 7 days in Texas, speaking at 4 universities. And WOW it has been great! But I will say that my "Texas Tour" was quite interesting --
After speaking at Baylor, I left Waco and headed to Abilene. One the way I saw a sign in front of a house that literally said "FARWOOD 4 SALE". Omg. Can you believe that one? Haha! Love it! Then between Abilene, Texas and Brownwood, Texas, there was a huge turtle walking across the middle of the highway, so we pulled a "U-ey" and headed back to rescue him from being hit. By the time we got to him a man in a pickup truck had already saved him. Texans are just nice like that! :) But, like any other place in America, there are also some shady characters ...like the guy named Sergio who came to my hotel room door, knocking and saying that it was the law that he had to come in and do an "inspection" of my room. Umm ... YIKES. Yeah, that'll freak you out. But this fall has just been amazing. The schools and students and staff at every campus has really been encouraging and made this work all worth it. God is so good and has really used my time and words to make a huge difference in not only individual lives and hearts, but on these campuses as a whole. People are breaking the silence, getting REAL, making a difference, and many have begun their personal healing journeys. I feel so honored to be a part of this incredible movement. And I thank you for the important role you play as my special support people who believe in this mission and who pray for me each step of the way. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. Love you. November 3, 2007 Here are a few recent articles and interviews from the past week as Nicole was breaking the silence!

I love all my new friends at Tyndale University College in Toronto and appreciated the great conversations and response to my message and time there. I also just returned home from 2 full days at Ashland University in Ohio -- one of my favorite places to visit! ~ The next 3 weeks are gonna be a lil' bit crazy ... I will be on the road speaking at 9 universities, in 5 different states (IN, MA, NY, VA, TX), and 8 out of those 9 are universities that I will be speaking at for the first time, which is very exciting to me. :) If you live near any of the following campuses, you are welcome to attend the main keynote event. Woman shares story of sex abuse lessons, including how to drive a stick shift, she said. And she trusted him. But he also instilled fear in her as a way to keep a painful secret. For about a decade, Bromley said, he sexually assaulted her while she suffered in silence. He convinced her that she'd be taken from her mother if she told. Bromley, 27, will share her experience today on the syndicated Montel Williams Show. Representing the Rape Abuse and Incest National Network, she appears as a guest with others who were sexually abused by their fathers. Bromley was chosen because of her willingness to help others, said Kathy Gulinello, a Montel producer. "That is a quality I always look for in a guest -- someone who takes a bad situation that happened to them and makes it a positive for others," she said. "She is definitely a survivor and not a victim. You can tell that from the first moment you meet her." For the past six years, Bromley has been speaking nationwide to various groups, urging those who have been abused to talk about the abuse and to pursue recovery. "Every school I go to, I tell my story," she said, "and I have a line of kids waiting to tell me their stories, too. "A lot of kids feel they don't have anybody to talk to. . . . It just hurts so much to know that so many people are dealing with the same stuff." Four years ago, she started OneVOICE Enterprises, an organization that works to help victims. Bromley, author of Hush -- Moving From Silence to Healing After Childhood Sexual Abuse, said it's imperative that survivors tell their stories and be believed and supported. "The first person you tell directs your healing," said Bromley, adding that the reaction that survivors receive after revealing such a painful secret can lead them to destructive behavior or toward recovery. As a teenager in 1994, Bromley found the courage to tell her mother. Her stepfather, whom she does not name, committed suicide shortly after her mother contacted police, she said. Religion and faith have played a big part in her recovery, said Bromley, who majored in psychology at Marietta College. As a speaker, she is effective because she tells students to trust their instincts in uncomfortable scenarios to avoid becoming victims, said Kimberly Ferguson, associate dean of students and director of student rights and standards at Capital University, where Bromley has spoken twice. And she helps others understand victims, Ferguson said. "She could actually speak from firsthand experience. We wanted faculty and staff members to understand what students go through." September 10, 2007 WATCH The Montel Show THIS THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 The Montel Show featuring Nicole Braddock Bromley as a peer expert on the topic of sexual abuse will air on Thursday, Sept 13th. Go to www.montelshow.com for the time and channel in your area. There are an overwhelming number of women dealing with the aftermath of sexual abuse. These after-effects could have dire consequences to all involved. For the first time on national television, she will open up about the abuse she and her sister suffered. Brigitte's defense attorney, Arthur Aidala, will also be here to tell us where her case goes from here, since she is now charged with murdering her father. We will talk to Nicole Braddock Bromley, who is a peer expert and author of the book Hush: Moving From Silence To Healing After Sexual Abuse. You will also hear the harrowing story of Amy Hammel-Zabin, who was raped systematically in childhood by her father and grandfather at the same time. Find out what Eller has to say, after learning that the man she married molested her daughter for two years. July 26, 2007 Book review from The Citizens' Courier - Vol 5 Issue 5 (by Jerry Lyon, Citizens for Community Values, Cincinnati, Ohio)
Child sexual abuse in the United States is a problem of epidemic dimensions. If you read the daily paper, or listen to the evening news, you know that to be true. So numerous are the stories of adults taking advantage of innocent children that mentally, and sometimes even physically, we turn them off. The most common emotional reaction that such stories evoke from us focus on the perpetrators of these crimes: anger and disgust. Speaker and author Nicole Braddock Bromley challenges her audience to focus, instead, on the victims of child sexual abuse. The ugly stories seem unending, yes. But we must realize that for every child abuser exposed and convicted, there are thousands never exposed — leaving behind hundreds of thousands of tormented victims who grow into adulthood trapped in the pain and turmoil of their past. In her recently published book,"hush: Moving from Silence to Healing After Childhood Sexual Abuse," Nicole tells in writing the victims' stories that she has been delivering in person for years to college and high school audiences. As founder and director of One Voice Enterprises, the Columbus, Ohio resident has dedicated her life to bringing healing change into the lives of victims of child sexual abuse. One of the stories that Nicole tells is her own. She knows firsthand the painful steps necessary to move from silence to healing."hush" exposes the harsh realities of child sexual abuse, explains the pain it causes, examines the false beliefs that it creates, and empowers survivors to begin a personal journey toward healing by breaking the silence. To order your copy of "hush" visit the Web site of Moody Publishers, moodypublishers. com, or OneVOICEenterprises.com.

The wife of Dr. Billy Graham, Ruth has touched many lives and leaves with us a great legacy. Today, I am remembering a quote from Ruth: "Just pray for a tough hide and a tender heart." I also like what Billy once said of their marriage: "Ruth and I don’t have a perfect marriage, but we have a great one. In a perfect marriage, everything is always the finest and best imaginable; like a Greek statue, the proportions are exact and the finish is unblemished. Who knows any human beings like that? For a married couple to expect perfection in each other is unrealistic. We learned that even before we married.
